My memories are of Andy's incredible enthusiasm for anything experimental that he could work on to fit a model to. I started my PhD work in 1970. On one occasion we needed the MCD magnetic filled with liquid helium - but the helium was in The Village so we loaded the magnet into a UEA van and drive across to The Village (I guess that was Physics then) filled the magnet then drove back with it full of LN2 and LHe and, therefore, "smoking" profusely - I can't recall which of us propped it up. All for the experiment! So, such a loss science. Such sad news of a brilliant scientist whose effervescent brilliance also lay in energizing others, me included. Martin Stillman, PhD 1974 now in Canada.
